Scraps Oh My!
Wow it’s easy to end up with a lot of paper scraps, isn’t it? It’s just the way life is when you’re a crafter. If you sew, you have tons of fabric scraps. If you scrapbook or make cards, you have a ton of paper scraps. I’ve shared quite a few paper scrap card ideas in the past, such as the ones below. Today I have even more ideas for you, specifically for how to use paper strips.
7 Ways To Use Paper Strips
Here they are! Below you can find lots of ideas for how to use paper strips on your card projects. Some of the projects have been highlighted other places on my site, and if that is the case, there’s a link where you can find out more.
1. Create Punched Decorative Strips
We have several ‘Pick a Punch’ options now that create decorative ends onto 1″, 1/2″, and 3/4″ strips. I use them often. They’re great for decorative pieces and also sentiment tags.
2. Stamp On Strips & Fussy Cut
You can do this on any size paper scrap, but why not use up those strips in this way? And if you’re rolling your eyes because you don’t like fussy cutting, it really is quick as long as you’re not cutting a lot of detail.
3. Create A Background Accent
After you’ve created your background, add a small strip for color variation.
4. Create Complete Backgrounds
This is my favorite way to use scraps! Choose a design, then glue your strips to a piece of cardstock until it is covered. Aren’t these beautiful? The two samples below are created using paper packs you can earn for free right now during Sale-a-bration. With every $50 you order, choose a free gift! Get Sale-a-bration details here.
5. Decorate The Inside Of A Card
It’s such a fun surprise when the inside of a card is pretty just like the outside! It’s even better than receiving any handmade card, because it’s a fun delight to open it too.
6. Use Them For Punches And Die Cuts
Like idea #2, you can do this with any scraps, but why not save your other scraps for other uses. Use up your strips for small punches and die cuts.
7. Use Paper Strips For Simple Tags
This is the most common way I use paper strips. They make quick and easy sentiment tags, and as you can see I have a ton of examples! Get more information on the cards below by clicking on the links provided.
Hopefully this gives you lots of ideas for using strips for sentiment tags!
