Creative Ways To Use Squares Dies

Sharing is caring!

Recently I shared a tutorial on creative ways to use circles dies, and these projects were very well received by many of you. I started thinking, I bet my squares dies are feeling left out! Just kidding – what I was really thinking was that we could do some really fun and different things with squares dies that we can’t do with circles, so this inspired today’s tutorial all about squares dies. I have four lovely projects to share, and I’m so very excited about the last one. I think you’ll likely want to create one (or 10!) of them yourself! Let’s take a look!

Creative Ways To Use Squares Dies

For each of these projects, I used at least two of my nesting squares dies (or sometimes all of them) and cut them at the same time on one pass through my die cutting machine. For details on how I did this, and a trick for lining them up easier, make sure to watch along with the video. Let’s take a look at each of these cards.

1. Highlight A Stamped Image Or Designer Paper

I created this cute card with the Happier Than Happy stamps and Happy Forest Friends designer paper. Love this set? See more projects made with it here and here.

2. Create A Frame

I stamped this simple card with the Garden Birdhouses stamps. A square frame would look nice as well, but I decided to turn it diagonally.

3. Make a Fun Background

I went out on a limb and paired the squares with another geometric set, called Sentimental Park. I just love this set, and you can see another project I made with it here.

Anna, these are wonderful! The Happier than Happy DSP is one of my favorite papers and here, you highlight it without taking away from it’s beauty. Brilliant! Also, quilting has always been one of those things that I adore but don’t have the time for… you’ve given me an easy alternative! This just made my day. Thank you!

I used the stylish shaped die’s and do not understand how you get the first square . The largest square does not fit. Am I doing something wrong?

What do you mean by the first square? Did you watch the video where I explained what I did?

Melina, I couldn’t get my white card stock to match up with the stylish dies either. The 3 1/4 square was too big for the largest square die. I ended up cutting my white cardstock to 2 7/8 and the second one to 2 1/2 and it worked perfectly. Hope this helps.
